I rolled into Piper's room this morning to find the wonderful tech holding and loving on Pipes. No sooner had I put my bag down and the gal said "you sure have a diva on your hands!" Translation: Someone had to hold her the whole night or she would SCREAM!! This is exactly what we experienced at home -- so I was actually comforted by what she said and not distraught.
Morning rounds were again favorable for Piper. White count and platelets are doing what they should.
The plan is to change the wound vac dressing (bedside) tomorrow and do a complete wound vac removal on Monday (in the OR.)
A culture was done on the fluid that flows through the drains and it came back staph free - but there were white cells. Knowing that, Dr. Haw wants to run the saline through for another day. There was talk of removing it completely if today's culture came back clean and clear... Perhaps tomorrow!?
We had a surprise visit from one of our favorite NICU nurses... Thanks Ms. Marsha for coming back to see us!!
That's all she wrote for today...
